This is a really great site if you are looking for ideas to incoporate technology into your lessons. This is a comprehensive site for grades k-12, undergraduate, and graduate students in science and mathematics. If you first go to the "search information" page it will describe how to find exactly what you are looking for. I have spent time browsing this site and trying the activities that are included. They claim to have over 100 Java-based activities and I can believe that! Check this out by typing in "interactive" in the search box. Additionally, there are investigative projects. These projects include things like having students calculate the effects of smoking and life expectancy, calculating the amount of calories they need based on height, weight, and activity, or modeling the spread of a flu epidemic. These activities were motivating and relevant. If you teach math you will really enjoy the things that Shodor Education Foundation has put together. Please visit them and let me know what you think.

Purple Math Review

This is a great web site for students that are working independently, to review and practice mathematical content. There is not password or log in information required and students will not be asked personal information. The web site is student friendly and contains minimal advertising. The page loads in a reasonable time and all the links are working. The links at the web site have been screened for relevant themes such as the use of graphing calculators. Once the page loads, there are options for enrichment in study skills, lessons to enforce math content, and tips for students regarding how to properly accomplish homework. A student that proceeds to the lessons will see a variety of mathematical areas to explore. The lessons are relevant, well written, and contain immediate practice opportunities. The web-site is not cluttered and is very easy to navigate.
